The first video game patent was issued in 1948.

Dawn of War II (DOW II) is a video game released by Games Workshop Limited in 2009. Game installation problems include receiving various errors and software that freezes or crashes.

  1. DirectX Error

    • If you receive an error that reads "Spooge driver not found," verify that Microsoft DirectX is properly installed and that you have the latest available version.

    Administrative Mode

    • Sometimes problems can occur when using Steam --- software used to distribute games and related media online --- to install DOW 2. The progress bar appears to freeze at 100 percent or freezes with a message that says "Scanning for updates." To fix this, run the installation and Steam in administrative mode instead of using Autorun on the DOW II disc or install it without using the disc.

    Access Violation Errors

    • If you receive access violation errors or crashes, it may be due to outdated drivers being used. Make sure your video card is compatible and you have all the required software for optimum DOW II performance.
