Projector bulbs occasionally need to be replaced.

Multimedia projectors have became key tools in education and business circles. They offer the facilitator a means to display a presentation to a large audience. After a number of hours, the bulbs require replacement. Occasionally this process can be challenging.

  1. Wrong Bulb

    • Verify you have purchased the correct bulb. Compare the model number on the manufacturer's model plate -- often displayed on the top of the projector -- with the bulb's number. Use original manufacturer's equipment, or OEM, bulbs to ensure accurate specifications. Aftermarket bulbs, while often cost much less, can be substandard.

    Wrong Placement

    • Verify you insert the bulb straight into its orifice. If you insert it even slightly crooked, the screw holes will not line up. Often it seems as if you have screwed the screw in but you have, in reality, missed it completely.

    Other Considerations

    • If your projector has a hookup cable, be certain it is not bound or twisted and that it is hooked up completely. Check the bulb thoroughly for shipping materials that will hinder bulb installation. Blow out the projector orifice with canned air to verify there are no obstructions.
