Proper Septic Tank Riser Installation

Measure

Expose all manholes and fit the septic tank riser by measuring the diameter of the manhole. Use a corresponding sized riser and place the riser one to three inches down into the opening.
Install

After placing the riser into the hole, seal the septic tank riser to the septic tank with high-strength flexible concrete mix. Sand the bottoms of small risers with rough sandpaper to sustain a stronger bond. Fill any holes or gaps between the riser and the tank with concrete mix.

To shorten a ribbed riser, drill a hole between the ribs higher than the cut line, finish the cut with a jigsaw and file down any high spots. To make a large ribbed riser fit securely into a smaller manhole opening, remove one of the ribs by plunge-cutting using a circular saw with the guard held open.
