What Is the Oil Change Interval for a Hydraulic Press Brake?

Press brakes handle the work in the sheet metal industry. They bend or make holes in sheet metal plates. The press brake bends the sheet metal by moving the pressing beam toward the V-shaped die.

  1. Hydraulic Press Brake

    • A hydraulic press brake has matching hydraulic cylinders connected to two C-shaped frames that form the machine sides. The hydraulic cylinders move a bending punch attached to the pressing beam and folds metal by up and down movements above the die on the table.

    Hydraulic Fluid

    • Hydraulic fluid, which is petroleum oil with various additives, circulates through and lubricates the hydraulic press brake. There is less wear on the machine parts because of the constant lubrication. Thus maintenance requires less time and money.

    Oil Change Interval

    • Improving operation and prolonging the life of the hydraulic press brake requires very clean oil. Manufacturers recommend changing hydraulic fluid annually, or every 2,000 operating hours, under normal conditions. More frequent oil changes are recommended under rigorous operating conditions.
