LG Dare Compatibility With Garmin GPS Navigation

The LG Dare is compatible with select Garmin GPS devices.

Garmin manufactures multiple global positioning system (GPS) devices for both in-car and in-hand use. The LG Dare smartphone is compatible with some of Garmin's in-car GPS units, though there's no Garmin-made GPS app compatible with the LG Dare.

Compatible Devices

While the Dare is specifically incompatible with Garmin's Dezl series, it is compatible with their StreetPilot series and Zumo series. It's also compatible with select Nuvi models like the 12XX, 13XX, 14XX, 16XX, 2X5, 3XX, 37XX, 4XX. 6XX, 7X0, 7X5 and 8XX series. The "X" here signifies numbers that vary based on the GPS unit's model within a specific series.

Connection

The LG Dare connects to select Garmin GPS units through Bluetooth technology. In order for the pairing to work properly, ensure that Bluetooth is enabled and functioning properly on both the Dare and your Garmin GPS unit.

Effects

While pairing your LG Dare and Garmin GPS unit doesn't allow for GPS navigation through your phone, it provides your GPS with various phone-like features. For example, the connection allows for hands-free calling through the GPS' microphone and speaker, as well as Point-of-Interest (POI) dialing, allowing you to call a business or destination selected on your GPS unit. You can also access your phone book, last dialed number, last received call and missed call information through the GPS unit, though text messaging is not supported.
