Roundworm damage is evidenced by discoloration and wilting of turf grass. The lawn may begin to thin out in patches.
Identification

Roundworms are microscopic. The only way to know for sure that you have a roundworm problem in your lawn is to have your soil professionally analyzed. Your county cooperative extension agent can assist you with this.

Treatment

There is no chemical treatment for roundworms in residential lawns. Pest management scientists with the University of Florida suggest adding soil amendments, such as manure, to boost root health. Good lawn management practices, such as consistent irrigation and mowing, will also help the lawn better tolerate nematodes.
