Privacy Center is a malicious software program.

Privacy Center is a malicious software program, or malware, that can cause a series of problems when installed on your Windows computer. The virus can prevent your computer from connecting to the Internet or launching certain programs. It can even keep you from logging into the Windows operating system.

  1. Causes

    • Privacy Center is usually installed automatically when a user goes to an infected website. Some users have reported that their computers have been inflected by downloading videos infected with this malware.

    Symptoms

    • Once installed, Privacy Center constantly creates pop-up windows, designed to imitate the legitimate Security Center found in recent versions of Microsoft Windows, to lead users to a website where they will be able to buy various antivirus software. Some versions of Privacy Center also prevent regular Internet browsing or may create even more serious issues during start-up, preventing users from accessing any regular functions of the operating system.

    Removal

    • Users infected with Privacy Center should, if possible, download a malware-removal tool such as Microsoft Windows Live Defender to fully remove the malicious program. If logging into Windows or starting programs is rendered impossible by the virus, reinstalling Windows from its original disc might solve the problem.
