Sustainability and Metal Construction
-
Consumers are asking for green, sustainable products hoping to minimize their impact on the environment. Sustainability implies using renewable resources or recycling nonrenewable resources. Metal is a finite resource, but through recycling, much of the steel used in construction can be reused rather than freshly mined.
'Green' Metal Buildings
-
Types of metal storage buildings range from garden sheds through garages and to large-scale, agricultural storage and barns. Companies are now building to green specifications, such as those specified by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. Metal buildings can be constructed from recycled materials, are long-lasting (some have 40-year warranties) and can be dismantled and moved if the landowner's needs change.

Constructing Metal Buildings
-
Recycled metal buildings can be purchased as prefabricated structures with paid-for installation, bought as a kit and constructed by the buyer, or built by the consumer from scratch. Also, you can often find used metal buildings for sale on auction websites, giving new life to a structure and recycling it in the process.
