Avoid prematurely ruined car batteries by installing a battery box.

Batteries in cars, motorcycles and other moving vehicles are often susceptible to wear and tear from the elements. Protect your batteries and your vehicle by making a battery box for your battery.

  1. Definition

    • A homemade battery box is a box that fits around your battery and protects it from the elements. It can be made out of many kinds of material, from hard plastic, metal or wood. Choose a building method you are proficient in using.

    Wear

    • Wear on your battery can affect your car in many ways. Your car may be more difficult to start due to frayed posts or wires. Electrical shorts in the battery can cause your car to run poorly or even stall repeatedly. A worn-out battery may also leak battery acid or other fluids if wore down enough.

    Metal Box

    • A metal battery box can be made out of light metal, such as aluminum or tin. Weld pieces of metal together to form a battery-sized box. The top should be attached to the box by hinges. It should also have areas cut out for the positive and negative posts. Place the battery in the box and place the box in the battery-holding area.
