Can You Replant Clematis Seed Heads?
The seeds that are found within the seed pod of a wilted clematis blossom can be replanted. You must check the seed pod for visible seeds to be saved for future planting. Does this Spark an idea?

Location
-
Clematis flowers bloom in clusters. Seeds are found in the seed head that forms after the flower blooms have matured. The seed heads can stay attached to the plant and may last well into winter. Viable seeds are brown. There may be no seeds at all in some pods.
Use
-
Place viable seeds on top of sterile starter mix in a container. Cover the seeds with sterile sand. Enclose the container in a resealable polyethylene bag and store it outside or in a refrigerator for the winter months.

Considerations
-
Hybrid seeds will produce plants that may not flower, so take that into consideration before going to the effort of collecting and planting seeds. Stratification or cold treatment is needed for a clematis seed to germinate.
