Steam Cleaner for Wallpaper Removal
Old wallpaper can be removed through the use of either chemicals or steam. While the process may be arduous, careful preparation and the use of a steam cleaner will make the project a little less stressful. Does this Spark an idea?

Preparation
-
Before steam is applied to old wallpaper, a scoring tool should be applied to the wall. Scoring tools create small holes in the surface of the wallpaper that will allow steam to penetrate the adhesive more easily.
Process
-
A steamer will take a few minutes to heat up after it is plugged in--the basin should be filled with water before plugging in the machine. Once the steamer is ready, the nozzle is applied to the wall, starting at the top of the wall and working downward.

Other Tools
-
In some cases, once the steamer is applied, the wallpaper will easily peel from the wall. If not, a scraper applied between the paper and the wall starting at one edge will help free the wallpaper from the wall. If the scraper nicks the drywall, repair the surface with spackle.
