A Troubleshooting Guide for the Ricoh FT 4415 Copier

Ricoh no longer makes the FT 4415 black-and-white laser copier for office use. But you may already own one. If it's not working properly, perform some basic troubleshooting steps before replacing it or paying for costly repairs.

  1. Power Problems

    • If you are experiencing power issues, unplug your FT 4415 and plug a working device into the same plug. If the other device still works, plug your 4415 back in and turn it on at the power switch found on the side of the unit. After the copier has powered on, perform a hard reset by holding down the power button for three seconds. Wait for it to turn off and back on.

    Check for Jams

    • The Ricoh FT 4415 is programmed to inform you on its display about potential paper jams, but sometimes that doesn't happen. Turn off the power switch, and open the top, front and side paper roller doors. Look inside for any paper that may be caught on the rollers. Remove any paper you find -- pieces or full sheets -- and fully close all of the doors.

    Cleaning and Ink Cartridge Replacement

    • If the quality of your copies is lacking, locate the ink cartridge bottle inside the top cover and see if it's empty. Order another one if it is. Spray bursts of compressed air into the copier through the roller doors to clean the rollers, and wipe the top glass with a clean rag.

    Errors

    • The FT 4415 should give you clues about the problems it's facing. Error codes are often displayed to tell you what is wrong with your copier. Find your error code on the chart that's displayed in your manual, then take the recommended steps. Contact Ricoh support if your FT 4415 is still not working.
