Schwinn Kick Start Instructions

Schwinn scooters come with a kick starter as well as an electric starter. There are certain situations when it is advisable to kick start these scooters.

  1. Kick Starting Situations

    • Kick starting is advisable instead of electric starting if the scooter has less than 100 miles on it, in wet or cold weather, or if the scooter has run out of gas and more gas has been added. Kick starting will be necessary if the battery has become discharged.

    Scooter Settings for Kick Starting

    • Place the key in the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position. Place the engine stop switch in the "ON" position. Move the scooter's center stand to its down position and make sure the side stand is up.

    Kick Starting the Scooter

    • Stand to the left of the scooter and pull on the brake lever with your left hand as you hold onto the backrest with your other hand. Then, extend the kick starter foot peg, twist the throttle a few times, and kick down on the kick starter quickly. Repeat this process until you hear the engine start.
