Why Is the Stopzilla Server Not Running?

Stopzilla is an antivirus and antispyware software package from developers iS3. The company makes a collection of security software, with Stopzilla currently in version 5.x (as of February 2011).

Stopzilla Server

Stopzilla's server is only used to update antivirus definition files. And while it is possible, however rare, that a server may stop working for a few minutes now and then, it's not likely that a repeated error message related to the server is, in fact, a server problem. More likely, it's a communication problem between your operating system, the Stopzilla software and the Internet.

Windows Firewall

Stopzilla needs to be entered as an exception with Microsoft Windows Firewall to connect to servers to update definition files. The first time you run the program or try to update it, you'll get a message from Windows asking if you'd like to set an exception; click Yes. You can change the settings for the Windows firewall later. Click Start and Control Panel, then choose Security and Windows Firewall, then Allow a program through Windows Firewall.

iS3 Support

You need to pay for Stopzilla, but using licensed software has the advantage of support. IS3 has a toll-free number you can call for support if you can't get your antivirus software to run correctly.
