Electrical Checklist for Conveyor Devices
Conveyor devices allow manufacturing industries to function quickly and produce large amounts of product. But, manufacturers must maintain certain safety checks, especially in regards to electricity, to ensure employee safety.
-
Function
-
Conveyor devices are mainly powered by electricity from a wall outlet. Varying controls exist for each device, but typically the machine should have power and emergency stop buttons, or switches.
Features
-
On a daily basis, each conveyor worker should verify that the electrical start and stop buttons function correctly. Workers should check the electrical cable that attaches from the conveyor to the electrical outlet for fraying or exposed wiring. Workers should repair or replace exposed wires immediately to prevent fire hazards. In addition, workers should check circuit breaker boxes periodically to verify that no circuitry is developing burns or constant tripping. Any small malfunction within the circuit breaker box can culminate into a large electrical problem if not detected.
-
Significance
-
Workplace hazards can be fatal without proper electrical knowledge. All workers need to be aware of where emergency stops are located as well as the circuit breakers that control the outlets.
