Symantec 451 Local Errors
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), described by the Network Working Group in RFC 2821, is a standard that email applications comply with to guarantee reliable delivery of electronic mail on the Internet, and the 451 local error code is part of that standard.
-
SMTP Commands
-
The SMTP standard specifies commands and protocols that email applications use to send and receive email. The standard also includes codes that applications must display when errors interfere with email delivery.
SMTP Codes
-
SMTP codes are numbered within categories such as permanent (cannot recover) and nonpermanent (recoverable). The message "451 Requested action aborted: local error in processing" is a nonpermanent error code, and is displayed when an event occurs to which an email application cannot respond.

Symantec Error Code
-
The Symantec Mail Security for SMTP 5.0 application, for example, communicates with an SMTP server and would generate a 451 error, most likely if the SMTP server failed to respond. If you see this error, contact your network administrator so he or she can troubleshoot the connection to the SMTP server.
