Honeywell Gas Valve Problems
Together with the U.S Consumer Product Commission (CPSC), NVP-Hearth Gas Communications and Honeywell issued a recall for hearth gas valves. The affected products are brand-specific and only use liquid propane for fuel.

The Problem
-
The pilot knob for the gas valve controls the on-off-pilot functions. Due to a manufacturing defect, the pilot knob may stick between the "Off" and "Pilot" settings, and a small amount of gas could possibly leak into the combustion chamber.
Affected Gas Valves
-
In North America, the recall involves approximately 6,000 hearth gas valves manufactured from April 2000 through December 2006. The gas-valve knobs were only in use on decorative gas fire places, and Franklin-type stoves.

Needed Consumer Response
-
If you believe you own a product with a defective valve, manually turn it off and do not use it. A licensed Honeywell technician will replace the valve in your product, free of charge. You should contact the CPSC for information.
