Choose the right type of nutrients for your hydroponic garden.

Hydroponic nutrients are sold in both liquid and powder form. You can purchase an individual macro-nutrient such as nitrogen, phosphorus or potassium or a blend that includes a specific ratio designed for plants in either the flowering or vegetative stage of growth.

Cost

Nutrients in powder form are less expensive than liquid hydroponic nutrients. The difference in cost is even greater if you are ordering online because liquid is more expensive to ship due to the extra weight.

Shelf Life

Over time, the chemical concentration of liquid hydroponic solutions can change drastically, making it difficult to control the proper ratio of nutrients. Dry nutrients can be stored for longer periods of time because they keep their original composition.

Convenience

Liquid hydroponic nutrients are easier to use than dry powders because they only require dilution before you can apply them to your plants and give you more margin for error with your measurements. You must carefully measure the amount of each type of dry nutrient and mix the powder thoroughly to eliminate any clumps.
