Fuel Specs for a 1982 AMC Eagle SX/4 thumbnail
The AMC Eagle is named after the popular bird.

The 1982 AMC Eagle SX/4 features a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine or a 4.2-liter, six-cylinder engine. The engines share some fuel specifications and differ in others. AMC no longer sells cars, but AMC Eagles are still on the road.

  1. Fuel Specifications

    • The 1982 AMC Eagle uses a two-barrel Rochester carburetor to deliver gasoline to each engine.

    Fuel System Pressure

    • The 2.5-liter engine has a fuel pressure of 6.5 pounds per square inch ((psi) to 8 psi and the 4.2-liter engine has a fuel pressure of 4 psi to 5 psi.

    Fuel Pressure Check Instructions

    • Turn your car on, but do not start the engine. Shut off the heating and cooling system and install a fuel pressure gauge to the vehicle's fuel rail or fuel pressure test port. Confirm there are no leaks in or around the car before you turn the engine on. You should be able to see the fuel system's pressure on the fuel pressure gauge.
