USDA Rural Housing Multi-Family Site-Manager Job Description

USDA Rural Housing Multi-Family Site-Manager Job Description thumbnail
Rural housing multi-family site managers have similar duties to regular apartment managers.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) offers housing opportunities through its Rural Development Housing & Community Family Programs. The multi-family housing programs provide housing opportunities to low-income and moderate-income Americans in rural areas.

  1. Role of the Site-Manager

    • Rural housing site-managers act as apartment or housing managers for those families taking advantage of the Rural Development Housing & Community Family Programs. Their role is similar to that of a regular property or apartment manager. The site manager ensures that housing is safe, operational and well-maintained for residents.

    Property Management

    • One of the main duties of a rural housing site manager is to ensure that housing and surrounding property is well cared-for. The site manager must attend to the curb appeal of the housing development and must meet the needs of tenants. Depending upon the facility or housing development, the site manager might also be responsible for maintaining electrical systems and appliances such as refrigerators and stoves.

    Building Tenant Relationships

    • Rural housing multi-family site managers should also maintain their positions by building strong relationships with residents. This might include hosting holiday events, helping tenants with building decorations and maintaining recreational and laundry facilities.
