Tajima Suture Technique

An injury to the tendon can cause critical mobility issues for its sufferers. This is why researchers strive to find the best ways to attack these injuries and sponsor healing. The Tajima technique is one of these approaches.

  1. Identification

    • The Tajima technique pertains to a suturing method developed by Goro Tajima. It focuses on the repair of a flexor tendon and is regarded by physicians and researchers as a conventional method of approaching such repair.

    Features

    • According to Ortho-preferred, a website for orthopedic surgeons, the Tajima technique is one in which the suture is actually placed inside the site where the tendon has been fixed. The suture is attached to the end of the tendon and then led through the tendon's sheath, the membrane that wraps around the tendon. This allows surgeons to make the repair with less damage caused by surgical instruments.

    Benefits

    • This technique has been tested against other suturing methods and has been found to provide beneficial results in allowing early movement of the repaired tendon. This method also has been shown to produce fewer adhesions around the repair than other techniques.
