They are often sold from stone piles and by the pound. Ask the yard before climbing over a pile of boulders to make your choice. Flagstone is heavy, and retailers have associates to assist in selection.

Quarries drop ship to customers. The quarries that mill flagstone generally sell to wholesalers by the pallet. Pallets are sold by the tone and, depending upon the rock, ship at 3,000 to 4,000 lbs. The cost will vary according to the particular flagstone and destination, and typically includes a delivery charge.
