Mobile Device Center Problems
Windows Mobile Device Center software provides a communication portal between Windows computer systems and Windows Mobile PDAs, smart phones and other devices. While the program usually operates without configuration, problems can arise due to incompatible systems or incorrect connections.
-
Requirements
-
The Mobile Device Center program is designed for use with Windows Vista and Windows 7. If you try to download and install Windows Mobile Device Center on Windows XP, Windows 2000, or another legacy Windows OS, the software will fail the installation procedure. Similarly, it will only connect to devices running Windows Mobile 2003 and newer as of 2011, including the newer Windows Phone OS. Attempting to connect a mobile device using Pocket PC 2000 or 2002 will result in connection errors.
Disconnections
-
Occasionally a mobile device will disconnect when synchronizing a large file. If this occurs, open the "Settings" menu on the device and tap "Connections." Open the "USB to PC" option and check the "Enable advanced network functionality" box, then tap "OK." Reset the device by holding the power button and pressing the reset button. Reconnect the device to try the transfer again.

PC Driver Problems
-
An interrupted or otherwise incorrectly installed driver can prevent a mobile device from connecting. To reinstall the driver, unplug the device and open the Device Manger window. Expand the "Network Adapters" section and right click on "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter." Select "Uninstall" from the list. When finished, reconnect the device to perform the installation again.
