A die grinder with 10,000 RPMs or less is used for fine grinding and finishing work. An RPM between 10,000 and 20,000 is used for rough finishes and buffing. A die grinder rated over 20,000 RPM with a no-load speed of at least 30,000 is used for removing metal burrs as well as to cut metal.
