How to Compare Nextar GPS Units

How to Compare Nextar GPS Units thumbnail
There is no device that will navigate you to the GPS that is right for you.

Nextar offers a large selection of GPS units, but comparing them can be confusing and frustrating. To compare Nextar's GPS units, you need to understand their features and determine which will benefit you.

  1. Physical Features

    • Nextar offers models in five screen sizes: 3.5, 4.0, 4.3, 5.0 and 7.0 inches. Most GPS have internal batteries, but not all of Nextar's do. Internal batteries can charge while you drive.

    Speech

    • Having a GPS that says directions is important while driving. This feature is common in GPS units, but a few of Nextar's do not have it.

    Navigation Features

    • Nextar's Speed Alert tells you when you are speeding. Not all units have this feature. Traffic information can be obtained with a few models, and some report lane closures. A lot of units have customizable avoidance menus, which include items such as tolls and unpaved roads. A few models allow you to select multiple destinations.

    Additional Features

    • Some of Nextar's units come with back-up cameras, TV tuners or Bluetooth capability. Built-in FM transmitters are available in some, and they allow directions to play through the radio. Many have points of interest directories that contain millions of locations. Searching these directories saves you from looking up or entering addresses.
