Baseboard Water Guard Drainage Systems for Leaky Foundation Walls & Floors

Water will enter a home through cracks in the foundation.

Most wet basement problems are caused by a collection of water around the foundation; this causes hydrostatic pressure. The pressure forces water through the area where the floor and walls meet. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Block Foundation

    • A border drainage system is installed inside -- along the walls -- and sealed to the floor with an adhesive designed specifically for this system. Holes are drilled through the foundation walls at floor level. The water seeps in through the drilled holes, and into the baseboard drainage system. It is directed to a sump-pump.

    Monolithic Foundation

    • A monolithic foundation occurs when the basement floor and footings are poured as one piece, and the walls are poured or built on top of the floor. Seepage holes are drilled into the floor, where it meets the wall. This system collects water in a hollow baseboard, and delivers it to a sump-pump. The sump-pump pushes the water outside, and away from the foundation.

    Tips

    • Address the cause of the leaky foundation. A baseboard drainage system is a good idea, but cracks in a foundation should be repaired to prevent further erosion.
