What Wall Color Is Good With Stained Trim?
When faced with existing stained room trim, first determine if any of the colors you'd like to paint the wall will blend well. Small sample sizes of paints can be applied to determine if the colors will clash or complement. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Analogous Color Scheme
-
Choose an analogous color scheme employing two paint colors slightly lighter than the trim, but in the same color family. If the trim is brown, paint two opposing walls a deep rich sand. Choose a sand color that is slightly lighter for the other two walls.
Bring Nature Inside
-
Keep the room warm using natural colors that will enhance the stained trim. Medium shades of soft greens or blues work well. Balance the room by bringing the trim color into the middle level of the room with accessories.

Balance
-
Neutral pale wall colors such as off-white, cream, shell, pale pinks, yellows or lavenders work if you have ceiling trim to balance stained baseboard trim. Having tall pieces of wooden furniture will also keep balance in the room if the only existing stained trim is at floor level.
