Shrubs provide a feeling of privacy around your home. Although some shrubs require extensive trimming, others are just as happy with no pruning, or an occasional, light trim. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Leyland cypress

    • Leyland cypress is a rapidly growing shrub with an attractive, pyramidal shape. When left unpruned, Leyland cypress eventually grows into a tall, dense plant, making it a good choice for gardeners who prefer natural-looking privacy shrubs.

    Emerald Green Arborvitae

    • Emerald green arborvitae is a tall, slender, slow-growing shrub that remains green all year round. Arborvitae requires no pruning other than an occasional thinning to improve air circulation to the center of the plant, although pruning is an option for gardeners who want to maintain a specific shape.

    Rhododendron

    • Rhododendron is a favorite ornamental plant that can be planted alone or grouped together to form a privacy hedge. Although rhododendron can be pruned heavily, it can also be left unpruned and allowed to grow to its natural size and shape.
