Emerson VCR Alignment Procedures
To ensure that your Emerson VCR is performing at optimal levels, you may need to align the audio, video record and playback circuits. Frequency generators allow you to confirm that your VCR circuits are at desired playback levels.
-
Basics
-
Each audio and video circuit in a VCR functions at a certain frequency level. Over time these levels may become altered and need attention to perform at optimal levels. When a VCR is out of alignment, there may be a noticeable degradation in audio and video output.
Frequency Generator
-
You need a frequency generator to perform a proper alignment for an Emerson VCR. The frequency generator should have an oscillation range between 1 Hz and 10 MHz. You should measure each circuit and compare it to the specifications set forth in the VCR's specific service manual.
-
Procedure
-
To perform an alignment for a particular circuit, you should place your frequency generator in sweep mode with the correct range programmed in it. You can then adjust amplifiers for the circuit until it fits in the range that the frequency generator is measuring for. You can repeat this process for each circuit that is out of alignment.
