Nike Air Max running shoes are one of the brand's most iconic lines. The line's cult following prompted Nike to release new models in limited editions from 1987 to 2006. Each release adds design modifications that distinguished them from their predecessors.

This shoe features more separated shapes in the midsole, which added more material and performance options. The Nike swoosh is partially obscured by the midsole pattern. This shoe also introduced a rubber patch featuring the words "Air Max."
Air Max 4

This shoe featured the biggest visible Air Max bubble. The shoe was released in 1991 and featured an anatomically engineered midsole and a BRS 1000 carbon rubber waffle outsole. The Nike swoosh is fully visible on this model.

The Air Max 90 was originally named the Air Max III. Nike renamed this the Air Max 90 when it was re-released in 2000. The Air Max 4's official name is the Air Classic BW, where BW means "Big Window."
