Safety Issues
-
Some wipes warmers may overheat. Those that overheat and are made of plastic may even melt. Or, they may develop cracks. If moisture seeps into the cracks, the wipes warmer may shock anyone who tries to touch it.
Recalls
-
In 2000, Advanced Thermo Controlled recalled over 150,000 wipes warmers marketed by Prince Lionheart Inc. due to reports of people being electrically shocked. In 2002, Safety 1st recalled its wipe warmers because the interior developed cracks, increasing the risk of electrical shock.

Never buy a used wipes warmer, and always check recall notices to make sure your wipes warmer does not have known safety issues. Keep it far out of reach of children, and unplug the device when not in use.
