Naval Ordnance Maintenance Policies

The U.S. Navy operates a Naval Ordinance Maintenance Management Program to ensure the maintenance and readiness of the U.S. Navy. The NOMMP helps ensure the operational readiness of the Navy.

  1. Policy

    • The policies implemented by the NOMMP are created by the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Policy Committee, which meets semi-annually to review NOMMP policy. NOMMP activities are completed under the command of the Chief of Naval Operations, the senior military official in the Department of the Navy.

    Goals

    • NOMMP policy is designed to achieve the assigned goals of the department, which include improvements to Naval readiness, deployability and reduced costs in completion of the U.S. Navy's maintenance responsibilities.

    Improvements

    • The NOMMP operates under a policy of attempting to continually improve the material readiness of the U.S. Navy in order to achieve its operational objectives. Maintenance objectives should be achieved within the U.S. Navy's safety standards using the optimum available manpower.
