CB Vs. FRS Radios for a Motorcycle
Motorcycles are unique modes of transportation in that the driver and passenger are exposed to the elements, including the wind. Communication between the riders can be done using CB or FRS technology.
-
Identification
-
CB stands for "Citizens Band" and provides communication through sending and receiving radio frequencies between two different CB radio devices. FRS, or Family Radio Service, works in the same way with radio signals, just on a higher frequency band than a CB.
Considerations
-
A key difference between CB and FRS radios is their range. Depending on the region, a CB radio can reach as far as 5 to 7 miles. In contrast, FRS radios can usually reach a maximum of about 2 miles.
-
Types
-
Both CB and FRS radios can be installed on a motorcycle, depending on the user's desires. Some products can be mounted inside motorcycle helmets, whereas others mount on the handlebar, making it accessible to the driver.
