You can make a flashlight with an LED and a matchbox

You can make your own LED flashlight using simple implements that you can find in your home. A convenient and straightforward method of making an LED flashlight, which should only cost you a few dollars, is to use a matchbox. Using this method, you will save money and learn a new skill at the same time

  1. Implements

    • To make an LED flashlight you will need a small matchbox, pen or marker, ruler, scissors or knife, two LED lights, sticky tape and a 3-volt battery.

    Method

    • Find the middle of the matchbox and mark two spots in the middle with a marker. Put holes in the spots you have just made using a scissors. Push the LED lights through the holes, make sure the bulbs are on the outside of the box. Use tape to fasten a 3-volt battery to the interior of the box. Make sure the wires of the LED lights touch the battery when you push down on the box. Check that it works by pressing down on the box; the lights should come on. Tape the box securely.

    Caution

    • Make sure you remove all matches before beginning this process. Keep all water or other liquids away from the flashlight while you are making it.
