What Is Involved in a 3800 V6 Engine Tune-Up?

A V6 with a displacement of 3800 cubic centimeters is a common engine in Ford, GM, and Chrysler vehicles. Each manufacturer produces and distributes its own design of the 3800, but the tuning of these motors is not specific to the brand.

Air Filter Replacement

One important procedure during regular tuning of any 3.8L V6 is replacing the air filter. Because it's responsible for adequately filtering air into either the fuel injectors or carburetor before fuel mixture, the air filter needs removal and replacement when dirt and build-up become too great.

Spark Plugs

Consult the manual for proper spark gap settings, and inspect each plug and wire for signs of damage or corrosion.
