The Effects of Low Memory on HP Fax Machines

HP features fax machines in its all-in-one printers. These types of printers also feature copy and scanning options. All HP fax machines come with a minimal amount of built-in memory that helps store faxes. Faxes may not print because of no or low ink, or a paper jam.

  1. Warning

    • Low memory on a HP fax machine can erase information sent on faxes not yet printed. Various models have a set amount of memory. When you near the maximum memory capacity, the oldest faxes sent will be erased from the machine's memory so it can continue to function properly without shutting down entirely.

    Effects

    • If your fax machine needs to be restored to its factory-set default settings, all faxes stored in the machine's memory will be erased. If your fax is running on low memory, it may not function like normal. The only way to restore its features is to reset the machine.

    Prevention/Solution

    • Print faxes as they are sent. If your ink level is low, replace the cartridge as soon as possible. Having enough ink in your fax machine at all times will free up memory on your machine.
