White Furniture
-
White furniture will show you all of the dirt and stains. Although white will show more stains than other colors, it is the simplest to keep clean because you can always see the dirt and stains. One consideration is that once a stain sets, it will always be visible.
Pets and Children
-
A child's craft could end up on your furniture. Pets and children can create another dilemma for furniture colors. A pet's fur will show up on almost any color of furniture. A white pet's fur won't show as easily on white furniture, just as a black pet's fur won't show as easily on black furniture. Children may spill food, drinks, paint or track mud onto any color of furniture.

Preventing and Hiding Stains
-
Patterns can hide stains. Patterned furniture can hide stains well, particularly patterns with multiple colors. You can also purchase slipcovers to go over your furniture that you can wash in your washing machine. There are also covers that go over the seat, back and arms of sofas.
