Internally and externally braced wind turbines are used to remove stale, attic air. This is done by using the natural forces of wind and air pressure. These forces cause the wind turbine to spin, removing the stale air.
Difference

Both types of wind turbines are exactly the same with the exception of how they are mounted. An internally braced wind turbine is attached to the roof of a home internally. An externally braced turbine is attached through a mechanism that covers the wind turbine and attaches externally on the roof.

Wind turbines provide a low-cost ventilation system to homes. Wind speeds in the location should average at least five miles per hour. For a home about 1,300 square feet, two 12-inch wind turbines are necessary to provide the correct amount of ventilation.
