An oil made from orange peels helps get rid of termites.

Removing the peel from an orange won't likely get rid of termites. But using an extract made of orange oil that comes from the peels can effectively get rid of some types of termites. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Description

    • Orange oil is made by extracting an oil from orange rinds, also known as peels. While the oil resembles thick orange juice, you cannot drink it. The non-toxic oil offers a more natural means of getting rid of termites.

    Types

    • The type of termite that responds best to orange oil is the drywood termite. The termite lives along the southern coast and in California. Other types of termites, including the subterranean termite, require a different method of control that does not involve the use of orange peel or orange oil.

    How it Works

    • The orange oil gets injected into the walls of the home or building infected with the termites. The oil seeps through the wood, killing the termites along with their eggs, and effectively ending their invasion. Since the oil is non-toxic, people do not experience any negative affects with use of the oil.
