Features
-
Red mulch is actually not made from red trees such as cedar or redwood. Instead the mulch is made of wood that is dyed red using natural dyes.
Significance
-
Generally dyed red mulch is made by recycling locally available waste wood. The area in which you live determines the composition of the wood used in red mulch.
-
Process
-
To make red mulch, limbs of waste wood are fed into a wood chipper. The resulting wood chips are sprayed with an organic red dye to give them the proper color. The wood may be sold unbagged or packaged in bags or plastic-wrapped bales.
