What Is a Timer Release Relay?

A timer release delay, also called a time delay relay, is a control relay that contains a timer in it. The timer allows an action to happen at a specified time and is used in electrical devices.

Purpose

Timer release delays are used to control the time an event happens. This occurs through the energizing and de-energizing of a coil and movement of an armature.

Function

Timer release delays are designed so that the circuit releases at a specified time. The relay is triggered by either the application of input voltage or the opening or closing of a trigger signal.

Features

When timer release delays are built, they are constructed as either normally open or normally closed and in which direction the delay operates in. These delays are used to operate many different events, such as the turning on and off of lights, electrical devices and stereo systems.
