LT1 Piston Specifications

LT1 Piston Specifications thumbnail
Pistons fire back and forth to allow air and fuel into the engine.

The LT1 is a powerful engine that was featured on the Chevrolet Corvette from 1992 to 1997. Pistons ensure that the different parts of the engine have the correct timing.

  1. Pistons

    • The pistons on the LT1 engine are made of cast aluminum. Two compression rings and one oil control assembly are used. The piston rings have a compression ratio of 10.4 to 1 and a stroke of 3.48 inches. The pistons have a lightweight design, a flat top and a barrel-shaped skirt for low friction. The piston pins are made of chromium steel and have a floating fit.

    Connecting Rods

    • The rods connecting the pistons to the crankshaft are made of powdered metal. A rod cap is installed on the connecting rods. The crankshaft is made of cast iron.

    Engine Specifications

    • The LT1 engine has a displacement of 350 cubic inches, or 5.7 liters. The V-8 engine had two valves per cylinder for a total of 16 valves. The engine was made of cast iron.
