Client Server Load Testing

Server load testing test server performance under load.

A client-server refers to the relationship between a desktop computer (client) and a corporate server (server). The server must respond to requests made by the client, which, in many cases, may include multiple simultaneous clients. A client-server load test evaluates how the server performs when put under multiple simultaneous clients.

  1. Identification

    • A client server load test involves simulating simultaneous users (a load) and evaluating the results. IT professionals use this test to make the necessary design or configuration changes prior to putting the client-server system online.

    Testing Objective

    • The core objectives of client-server load testing is to measure how fast the server responds to user requests, determine the hardware/software configuration that provides the most optimal performance and measure the system's ability to handle loads without decreasing performance.

    Testing Tools

    • IT professionals have several software tools at their disposal to help them perform load tests such a Loadrunning/XL, which simulates a load of simultaneous users, and SQL Inspector, which test links between the client and server. Each tool play an integral part in setting up and carrying out server load test.
