What Does the BCM Module on a Chevy Malibu Do?

Purpose of the Body Control Module

A body control module is basically the computer component that checks, regulates and operates the electronic systems in a car. Combining all of these systems enables them to function together. Some such systems include the air-conditioning, door locks, interior lighting and power seats, and the body control module regulates these systems and troubleshoots the component modules.

How Module Functions in a Malibu

In a Chevy Malibu, the body control module controls the antitheft system, the HVAC system, and the gauges, including fuel, oil pressure and speed. It regulates the power windows, locks, seats and interior lights.

Location

The body control module is part of the fuse or relay box on the front passenger side of the center console in a Chevy Malibu.
