How to Create Motion Tracking Features for QuickTime

In addition to the hardware products it creates, Apple also manufactures software. QuickTime is a free media player available for both Mac and PC users. QuickTime is used for playback and does not have any motion tracking tools.

Final Cut Pro

After you have edited a product in Final Cut Pro 7 you can save the final product in a number of file formats including DVD, Blu-ray or QuickTime. Final Cut Pro also incorporates a motion tracking feature in its editing suite.

Motion Tracking

Motion Tracking allows you to set up masks over a moving object in your footage. You can accomplish this manually or through the use of an automatic tracking tool. Tracking allows you to adjust the appearance of your footage and retain a consistant look.

Other Tools

Since Motion Tracking allows you to calculate an adjustment over time using a mask, nearly all of the tools in Final Cut Pro can be used in conjunction including color, hue and saturation. The adjustments you make using Motion Tracking will be present after you save the file as a QuickTime movie.
