SMC History

The Specialty Manufacturing Company was founded in 1900 by William Boss, an inventor and holder of many patents for products as varied as a lawn mower, a clothesline reel and a garden hose reel. SMC has developed many customized products from egg weighing scales to Scotch tape dispensers. SMC is still privately owned by the fourth generation of the Boss family.
638 Series Ball Valves

SMC's 638 series ball valves were originally developed for the water purification industry. Available in a variety of plastic materials, most 638 series ball are NSF Standard 42 Certified. They are designed to operate at pressures up to 125 PSI and temperatures up to 140 degrees. They can be ordered in chemical resistant versions.
