How Often Should You Fertilize Eureka Lemon Trees in Florida?

Citrus trees love fertilizer and the Eureka lemon is no exception. It is important to establish a fertilizing schedule while the tree is young to ensure adequate yield.

Fertilizer

The ideal fertilizer for the Eureka lemon tree is ammonium sulfate, 21-0-0. Eureka lemon trees grown in some of Florida's regions with rocky soils may become deficient in iron and require applications of dry iron sulfate.

Timing

Timing is not a critical factor when it comes to fertilizing the Eureka lemon tree in Florida as long as it is fed four times a year. If you live in an area that receives frost, you will want to spread the applications over the months from first growth in spring to late August.

Rate

Give the Florida-grown Eureka lemon tree a cup of fertilizer, spread over four applications. Give it 2 cups in its second year and 3 cups in the third year.
