Biofuel Filter Systems

Biofuels are made from a variety of sources with the most common types being bioethanol and biodiesel. Bio fuels can be created from waste materials including cooking oils, which must be filtered to produce a usable fuel.

  1. Heating

    • Where the ingredients for biofuels contain contaminants and materials that must be removed, it is common for the raw materials to be heated during the filtration process. Heating allows the raw materials to become liquid and pass through the filter system easily.

    Bags

    • Biofuels can be filtered through bags that do not allow contaminants to pass through them. Filter bags for biofuel are rated by the size of particles they allow to pass through them, measured in microns or micrometers.

    Cartridges

    • Biofuel filters that work by spinning materials, called cartridge filters, receive the raw materials for creating biofuels from a pumping system, unlike filter bags which are gravity fed.
