There are two types of wheel spacers. The first are those that are bolted to the vehicle's hub. These spacers slide onto the vehicle's existing wheel studs and are fastened in place with lug nuts. The spacers have wheel studs that the wheel is then installed onto. The other type are spacers that have holes in them but no studs and that are simply slid over the existing studs. If this type of spacer is being used, the lug nuts should be inspected for tightness and to ensure that there is sufficient thread on the studs to keep the wheels in place.
