Difference Between Ceramic Braces & In-Ovation C

Difference Between Ceramic Braces & In-Ovation C thumbnail
In-ovation C and ceramic brackets are orthodontic options for braces.

Ceramic and In-ovation C are two bracket options used in orthodontic braces for straightening teeth. Both are made from ceramic. Construction of the bracket and wiring methods are much different in the two.

  1. Ceramic

    • Ceramic braces are made from material that is translucent or tooth colored. They use an elastic ligation system to move the teeth along the wire. The elastics are clear, making the ceramic braces less noticeable.

    In-ovation C

    • The In-ovation C is the first bracket made from ceramic that uses a self-ligation system. This means there is no need for elastic bands to ligate or move the teeth along the wire. The In-ovation C requires less treatment time and less discomfort due to technological advances.

    Treatment Time

    • The elastic bands used on traditional ceramic brackets cause friction to the wire. This friction slows down movement of the teeth. The In-ovation C bracket has a technological advantage by allowing the wire to move freely. Friction is not created against the wire and therefore teeth move more quickly and easily.
